Lea Schüller, Carlotta Wamser and Sophia Kleinherne all returned to the Germany squad on Tuesday for the start of Women’s World Cup qualifying.

Christian Wück named a 23-player squad for the opening games against Slovenia in Dresden on March 3 and in Norway four days later.

Schüller, who moved to Manchester United from Bayern Munich during the Bundesliga mid-season break, missed the two-legged Nations League final won by Spain in November and December for family reasons.

Wamser returns to the Euros 2025 semi-finalists after knee problems. Kleinherne was injured at the tournament in Switzerland and has battled back to fitness. Wolfsburg’s Vivien Endemann is also included again.

“2025 was an eventful year. We now want to take the next steps in our development process and seamlessly pick up where we left off in terms of performances last year,” Wück said in a statement.

Germany need to win their group to secure direct qualification for the 2027 tournament in Brazil. Austria are also in Group A4.

Giovanna Hoffmann of RB Leipzig and Bayern’s Lena Oberdorf remain out with with cruciate ligament tears.
